Senate House is the living example of the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture which is perfectly blended with Byzantine architectural features. This remarkable architectural design was proposed by Robert Fellowes Chisholm. Senate House is located in Madras University Campus near Marina Beach, it is the most famous and well known landmark of Chennai.

Senate House is well known for its huge massive pillars which are on the either sides of the building and the shy touching towers which are placed on all the four sides of the building. The vintage look is added to the building by the six porches which are present in all the four directions. The senate has a huge convocation hall, halls for meeting, beautiful portico and a library. Senate house was ruled for 125 years and was on the main venue for all meetings and functions later on it was shifted to Centenary Convocation Auditorium.
